Dmitri Shostakovich showcases his irrepressible sense of humor in Cheryomushki, a sparkling satirical operetta exploring the absurdities of 1950s Soviet housing. Conducted by Wasfi Kani, this 1995 BBC Music Magazine exclusive features an English-language studio performance by the Pimlico Opera that captures every nuance of the composer's theatrical wit.
This pre-owned album arrives in very good condition, offering a clean, glossy disc with only faint handling marks, accompanied by crisp original paper inserts and an intact jewel case exhibiting light cosmetic shelf wear.
